J. V.'s Page

Hey, my name is J. V. I am a senior at The Ohio State University majoring in Family Resource Management. I am one of the Curse of Cleveland co-founders; I write for the Burn on Big River column located within the Curse of Cleveland. Burn on Big River, is a special interest column that will bring you my opinion on the activity surrounding all things Cleveland sports.

I have not experienced the joy of a championship for the city of Cleveland nor has anyone born after 1964; however, I have experienced many torturing championship teases. My most painful memory is what I like to call “the blown save”. 1997, The Tribe was one out away from being World Series Champions…ONE OUT! I do not even need to elaborate. I just wanted to establish my first realization of the curse Cleveland sports was under. There were times before this day and after that I have felt Cleveland Sports heartache, but “the blown save” is the day that takes the cake for me. I was only 12 years old, but the pain was real.

In recent years, every Cleveland sports team has experienced some sort of success and anticipation of a Cleveland Championship parade is at an all time high. I am happy to be a part of the Curse of Cleveland, and I am excited to be able to help document the ups and downs of Cleveland Sports. Hopefully, we will be writing about a championship soon. If not, writing should help me keep my sanity. I encourage all readers to comment with their opinions.

Burn On!
