My name is Chris and I am one of the writers for the Curse of Cleveland.  I am a junior mechanical engineering student at Trine University in Angola, Indiana, but I'm from the Buckeye State, so my sports loyalties lie in Cleveland and Columbus.  Though most of my articles will be related to my biggest sports passion/addiction, the Ohio State University, I have been a faithful Cleveland fan for as long as I can remember.

I started out an Indians fan at a young age.  The first year I really started watching the Tribe was the disappointing 1995 season when we lost to the Atlanta Braves.  Then we made it back in 1997 and I thought I was about to experience a Cleveland championship, only to be let down as we lost game seven to the five-year old Florida Marlins team.  Since then it has been seasons of ups- and downs- for the Indians, but there's still nothing better than driving to (the Jake) to watch the Tribe play.

Growing up in the '90s wasn't an ideal time to be a Cavalier fan.  When I was younger I didn't follow the Cavs nearly as much as I do today.  The turning point for me was 2003--the start of the LeBron James Era.  Watching King James's career and the Wine and Gold develop the past six seasons has given me hope that this "Curse of Cleveland" will be lifted in the future and the name of our website will change

Being a fan of the Browns is hands-down my most frustrating sports loyalty.  I started watching the Browns when they came back to Cleveland in 1999.  The team has gone through many changes in the past decade, but there's always hope for the future.  Though I am certainly classified as a Browns fan, my truest loyalty is to the Buckeye football team, so I also find myself rooting for my former Buckeye favorites currently in the NFL.  (Anthony Gonzalez, Teddy Ginn, Troy Smith, Mike Vrabel, Mike Nugent, Vernon Gholston, Michael Jenkins, AJ Hawk, Will Smith, and next year Malcolm Jenkins and Beanie Wells--to name a few)

When it comes to the Ohio State University, football is my primary focus, but I follow the basketball team as well.  I was drawn into the basketball team (featuring Greg Oden, Mike Conley, and 3-point champion Daequan Cook) in 06-07 when we fought our way only to be disappointed with a National Championship loss.  Since then I have followed Buckeye basketball recruiting in the offseason and I watch any games that I can catch here in Indiana during the regular season.

The 2002 football season was a magical one for all Buckeye fans.  It was the one time I have felt the joy of a sports championship.  It has no bearing on the "Curse of Cleveland," though, since it was a championship brought to Columbus.  I heavily follow Ohio State football recruiting and my friends would classify it as more of an addiction than a passion.  Because I am so passionate about Ohio State football, Kirk asked me to become a part of his staff here on CofC, so I will be sharing some of my Buckeye knowledge with my future posts.

So there's a little bit about me.  I'm a Cleveland/Buckeye fan through and through, and I hope that one day I can experience the feeling I felt that glorious night when the Buckeyes defeated Miami in double overtime for one of the Big 3 in Cleveland.
