The Curse of Cleveland website is a dream child of Kyle, J.V., and Kirk formulated during their time together at The Ohio State University in the winter of 2007. Kyle thought with all of Kirk's endless jabber about Cleveland sports that he should get his name and opinion out there on the information super highway.
The site started on a MySpace page which was accomplished thinks in large part to Kyle's mastery of Photoshop. It was fun, but it got very few visitors. We needed to think bigger.
So, in the fall of 2008, after much prodding from J.V. and Kyle, Kirk finally broke down and purchased the domain name. Many hosting options and blogging formats later, we have finally a face we are truly thrilled about.
J.V. took the initiative to add his own special section to the website, Burn On Big River, which gives J.V.'s unique view of the Cleveland sports scene on and off the field and court.
In January of 2009, Kyle posted on an ESPN article that got a back-and-forth going between Kirk and Matt of Bust a Bucket, a Portland TrailBlazers blog. Matt belonged to this up and coming blogging network, Bloguin, and he thought that Kirk should seek membership. Kirk applied, and was some time later accepted as a member of the Bloguin network. Derek, the founder of Bloguin, deserves credit for the design of the banner and layout for the site, with some creative ideas from the CofC staff.
The Curse of Cleveland signed blogging free agent Chris, a die-hard Cleveland sports and Ohio State fan, to a contract in early 2009 to cover the recruiting for Ohio State football.
In the future, the Curse of Cleveland hopes to continue the growth of its loyal fan base and establish a true community where fans can come and say their piece about the Cleveland sports teams that we all love.
